Baptist University of the Americas

Affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas and located in San Antonio, TX, the school offers bachelors degree courses in Spanish and English to prepare persons for bilingual and multicultural leadership and ministry.

Boston College: Institute of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry: Hispanic Ministry Certificate

"The Hispanic Ministry Certificate program provides a deeper integration of one's theological understanding and professional experience through the discussion and discernment of topics related to ministry in hispanic faith communities. Center for the Study of Latino/a Catholicism

This research center is located at the University of San Diego and directed by Orlando Espín, Ph.D.  From the center's website:  "The mission of the Center for the Study of Latino/a Catholicism is:  To research and reflect theologically  on Latino/a Catholicism and its impact on the overall U.S. (western) Catholic Church, and to do so in a systematic, ecumenical, multiperspectival, interdisciplinary, intercultural and critical manner.

In order to carry out its mission, the Center promotes and organizes national and international symposia and research projects, publications, public conferences, etc., which contribute to the theological study and interpretation of Latino/a Catholicism in the U.S. The Center also assists scholars with independent research and/or sabbatical projects."

Centro Hispano de Estudios Teológicos / The Hispanic Center for Theological Studies (CHET)

A  formation program for Christian leadership for Latinos/as in southern California under the auspices of the Evangelical Covenant Church.  CHET is affiliated with Northpark University and Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.

Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary

Under the direction of Dr. Eldin Villafañe, the seminary offers a D.Min. track called " The Public Ministry of the Hispanic American Church."

Haggard School of Theology, Azusa Pacific University

Under the direction of Enrique Zone, the school of theology offers operates a Hispanic Program.  The Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies (MAPS) program is available for Spanish-speaking and bilingual students.

Harford Seminary: Programa de Ministerios Hispanos

The program "provides introductory theological  education for ministry and leadership in Hispanic churches and  communities. Through its Hispanic Ministries Certificate Program,  taught in Spanish, classes are designed to help clergy and lay leaders  strengthen the faith and witness of churches in Hispanic and Latino communities throughout New England." -- from the website

Hispanic Institute of Theology, Concordia Seminary

From the seminary's web site:  "The Hispanic Institute conducts its programs for pastoral and deaconess certification at two levels: the Entrance (Diaconal) Level and the Seminary (Certification) Level. Hispanic Institute of Theology (Drew University)

"The Hispanic Institute of Theology at Drew University (HIT) was founded in 1992 by  Dr. Ada MarÌa Isasi-DÌaz. The primary work of HIT is to provide opportunities for the  development of Latina/o theological and religious studies and to give visibility to this  work. HIT is also interested in helping to develop a network of Latinas/os involved in the  field of religious studies and theology."

Hispanic Summer Program Programa Hispano de Verano

A two-week graduate-level summer program funded by a consortium of several dozen seminaries, schools of theology and universities for Latinos/as preparing for ministry and for non-Hispanics involved in Hispanic ministry.

Hispanic Theological Intitiative (HTI)

An institute funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts to support and nurture the theological education of Latinos/as preparing for teaching and pastoral ministries.

The Institute for Latino Studies (University of Notre Dame)

Journal of Hispanic/Latino Theology

Founded in 1993 by the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians in the United States, this journal publishes research that advances the development of U.S. Hispanic/Latino theology and aids in the conversation about the variety of religious expressions among Latinos/as.

Loyola University Chicago"

The Institute of Pastoral Studies includes the Instituto Pastoral.  The mission of the Instituto is "to accompany the Hispanic community in the process of liberation, oriented to the transformation of the Faith Community and of society, attending in a particular manner to the needs of the oppressed and marginalized, according to the changing situations, present and future, of the community it serves."

Oblate School of Theology

The Oblate School of Theology offers a specialization in Hispanic Ministry for its D.Min. program.  It also provides Spanish-language certificate program in lay ministry, called Certificado de Ministerial Laico Pastoral and through the Institute de Formacion Pastoral.

Perkins School of Theology: The Mexican American Program

The program serves as a center for preparing church leaders with the knowledge and skills to minister in the Spanish-speaking community.  It offers courses within the M.Div degree program for seminarians and non-degree courses and programs for clergy and laity developing their ministerial skills for the Hispanic community.

San Francisco Theological Seminary, Hispanic Program

Seminario de Gracia

A bachelors level seminary for Spanish-speaking students preparing for ministry.  Located in Raleigh, NC, Seminario de Gracia is an independent evangelical seminary.  It maintains relationships with Fuller Theological Seminary, Asbury Theological Seminary, and is accredited by the The Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges.

Seminario Evangélico de Puerto Rico

An ecumenical seminary sponsored by six Protestant denominations in Puerto Rico offering M.Div. and M.A degree programs.

Sociedad Wesleyana (Latina/o Wesleyan Society)

Organized at at a pre-conference meeting of the "Wesley in America" conference on April 3, 2003, at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.  The society publishes essays on the Wesleyan tradition in English and Spanish on the web site of the Drew Hispanic Institute of Theology.

Summer Hispanic Ministry Workshop

This course covers the Latino/Hispanic in the U.S., popular religious traditions, the church year celebrations, pastoral care, and Christian education. It is designed for lay and ordained and is conducted in English. The course will be conducted June 20-24, 2005. The cost including housing and food on the ETSS campus is $600. A $100 deposit is due by May 1.

Tierra Nueva and The People's Seminary

An ecumenical center for theological education north of Seattle Washington that bridges the mainstream with the margins and equips persons for ministries of social transformation.
